Anonymous: how do you stick to your ww when you eat so many sweets and jimmy johns and beer and junk!
Have been sitting on this for a while because I wanted to really answer it….
Well, for one, I technically have been in maintenance for a while now, so for the past six months+ I haven’t been trying to lose any more than I had already lost.
And secondly, I have a pretty easy going mentality about weight loss. If weight loss and maintenance is some big scary stressful monster in my head, I am so much less likely to stick with it and so much more likely to break it and cheat. Weight loss has NEVER been about deprivation or starvation for me, even if I was trying to lose and being totally vigilant, I’m going to eat a freakin cupcake every now and then. And if I’m on vacation (which I was when I ate Jimmy Johns,) I’m not going to stress about it. I’m never totally off the wagon (I would never go back to eating how I did prior to my weight loss process) but, there are times when it just isnt feasible to put it first, and I am totally okay with that.
My weight loss has always been a stop and go process, I lost in increments of like, 30, and then, and then 20, and then 10. Sometimes I have the mental capacity to buckle down and drop some lbs, but sometimes I need to devote that brain functioning to something else. I went through some really tough times this fall, and I was functioning on a ‘do whatever you have to do to get by and not kill yourself’ mentality, and counting points just was not part of that. But the bottom line is, I didn’t gain all the much (I’m still within in my goal range) and now that I’m out of that funk, I’m feeling really excited to buckle down and be able to focus on it again.
Related news: I just signed up for another half marathon, and I think I might try to drop 5 lbs lower than my goal weight and step it up on the fitness side of things, because I’m in the mood to push myself a bit .
P.S. for the 3904823 time, I rarely eat the things I bake, I live with four other people that I feed those to, I just really like baking. Also, I love good beer and I will never give it up.
